Last summer I bought Chiquita a couple big pop-up books at a yard sale. Needless to say they didn't survive the love of a one year old very well. I gave up trying to save them since she was enjoying them so much.
However, with only a few characters entact I decided to give these books a new life as a lacing game. From Little Red Riding Hood I cut out the house, Daddy Bear, Mamma Bear, Baby Bear and Little Red Riding Hood.
I got them laminated and then I punched holes around the edges. For the laces I just used yarn with a little duct tape wrapped around the edges, but you could use actual shoe laces too.
Chiquita was excited to see the characters she knew! It was her first time trying a lacing game like this so she needed a little help but she got it !

Cute idea. What a great idea to re-purpose the pop ups! Thanks for sharing with The Sunday Showcase.
