There's not many words in Spanish that start with K. Kilo and Kiwicha (Amaranth's name in Peru). Neither of these make for very good crafts.
So even though Koala isn't a word of Spanish origin, that's the name for these cuddly creatures from Australia in Spanish and English. I promise I'll stop complaining about having trouble after this letter (at least until I get to W).
I started by giving Chiquita a K es de Koala coloring sheet from primeraescuela.com.
Then we watched this short clip from Go Diego Go about a Koala hug:
As she watched I furious cut out the pieces for our Koala from this template I drew:
I also cut a strip of brown paper and a circle of green so that our K Koala could climb a tree.
As always I assembled the whole picture, showed it to Chiquita, then disassembled it to show her the letter K. Then we glued it all together, me putting down glue guides and Chiquita placing the pieces. She's really getting better at this, we might be ready soon for her to start doing it all herself!
Super cute "K" craft! When we crafted through the alphabet with my son, we made key tracings, which was fun, too! But, lovin the koala!!
