Family Field Trip - Chinese New Year Celebration

Today was the culmination of our week of Chinese New Year crafts and activities.  The whole family headed over to Salt Lake City Library for the celebration put on by the library and the Chinese Association for Science and Technology in Utah.

It was great!  First we colored some snakes.  They also had snake crafts, caligraphy and other painting, but Chiquita didn't have patience for more than a coloring page.

The performances we so much fun!  Chiquita loved the violin duet and yelled "yeah!" during each break in the music.

All the dances were fun, some a little more practiced than others.  Chiquita decided she had to dance too and tried to copy their moves.

This was actually Chiquita's first trip to this particular library.  If you live in the area I highly recommend visiting this library.  The architecture is exciting in and of itself (see some pictures here).  If it's nice weather you can walk up the long stairs up to the top of the building.  The glass elevators make me think of Willy Wonka and their children's section has really fun reading nooks like the "crystal cave" and "the attic".
