Life Hack: Scooters and Stollers

Having two kids, heck, just the oldest getting older, is introducing me to all sorts of new challenges.  Tell me if this story is familiar to any of you parents of pre-schoolers: Chiquita still loves to go on walks but since we got her scooter she wants to ride it everywhere.  However, after block or two of scooting (less if there's any uphill) she's done!  Then I have to figure out how to hold her scooter (since it's a pre-schooler style, not an older kid fold up) AND push a stroller.

Well, if you're a parent of a baby and pre-schooler, like me, then I have a solution for us!

When this occurred the other day it came to me in a flash. Since Chato was in his car seat locked into the front part of the stroller I just slipped the bottom of the scooter under the carseat and clipped it to the handle of the carseat with a convenient toy.  I could have used a ponytail holder too.  The scooter was stashed and there was still a seat for Chiquita.  Everyone and everything could have a ride!

What's your favorite parenting "life hack"?

  2. Great idea :) It's always exciting to find a simple solution like this! I made my toddler walk or ride his balance bike home when he declared himself "done" the other day.... halfway through our walk. He soon got back on and started riding :)

    1. Isn't it funny what kid's are capable of when they don't have a choice? Sometimes when Chiquita tells me she's tired of walking I get her to skip or dance or run. We go on ambitious walks sometimes (the park is a little over a mile away), so I have to cut her some slack.
