I Love You in 4 Languages

Sometime last year I found this adorable 'I Love You' activity from Relentlessly Fun, Deceptively Educational.  I loved the idea of introducing more languages and geography to Chiquita.

She's familiar with three of these languages so I started by lining up the "I love you" phrases and we said them together.  Then I lined up the maps in one row and the flags in another.  She did try to match up the maps together, so I explained that there was one of each kind to make a heart.  The U.S. was our first successful match since she recognized the map of United States from a Me on the Map activity we did a little while back and we have a flag of the U.S. in our kitchen.

Geography is still a very vague idea for Chiquita but with these activities our discussions of place and distance are really developing.  She still insists that China is any mountain she can see, but she knows that France is far away and where her cousins live, and that some people live in the same city as us and some don't.
