V is for Valentine

So I was planning on introducing letters in order, not for any really good reason, it would just help me remember what letter we were introducing.  However, I thought of a fun Valentine's Day activity with the letter V that I didn't want to pass up.

I cut a few hearts out of construction paper - I cut blue and pink together at a time so I would have a little and a big in each color.  Then I decided to make a big pink and purple the same size so we could do a practice run with just two options only differentiated by color before moving to four choices with color and size.

Then I cut off the top of the heart and a triangle of the folded inside of the heart to I had a letter V and a heart top.

Then I glued the letter Vs onto a piece of paper and wrote "alentine" after them so that we can talk about Valentine starting with the letter V.

Chiquita's job was to match the right top with the right V to make a heart!  On the practice run I showed her how the two pieces made hearts and then disassembled.  I had her pick one top and point to the corresponding bottom.  I added the glue and she placed the top. The practice run was good because then she got the idea and needed no matching help on the second page.  I did straighten the tops a little I will admit. The different sizes didn't throw her for a second!
