4th of July Matching Game for a Group

This week for Spanish for Preschoolers we're learning about rojo, blanco y azul (red, white and blue) in honor of the 4th of July.  We will be playing this matching game I adapted to learn colors and numbers.

To make the game:
I printed this memory game in black and white from dltk-kids.com, but you could easily create your own for any theme with some clipart.  Just make a table with 6 squares and add 1 image to the first, 2 images to the second, etc.

I made 5 copies (6 pages) and colored two blue, two red and left two white.  Then I pasted them on construction paper of the same color (red on red, etc).  We have pre-schoolers and toddlers in our group so there was no need to make it more complicated.  I cut them out and ended up with 2 identical decks of eighteen cards.  If you have more than 6 in your group you could expand your deck by making more colors or more cards per color.

To play:
The "caller" keeps one deck and deals out the rest of the cards to how every many players you have.

The "caller" picks one card from the deck and shows it to the kids asking if anyone has a match.  For example, "Quien tiene una tarjeta con dos estrellas azules?"  Whoever has a match gives the card to the caller.

First person with no card wins!
